The Mellor Group sail from Athens for a week of fun on the OS 51.2 SY Silver Star
Wow....what a fantastic photo!! Truly shows what a great time you had. Thanks for your
comments and being our guests in Greece! Thalea and Nikos

"Thalea,
Thank you for a wonderful time!  We enjoyed our charter tremendously with one of our crew who is 79 years old and having never sailed before wishes to go again on a similar trip!  We initially sailed south into the Saronic due to forecast high Northerly winds (Meltimi) but on day 2 decided to head out to the Cyclades and then sailed around the western most of this island group heading back to Poros on the penultimate day.  The weather was as predicted, Hot, Hot, Hot.  The Greek people we met were all very friendly and assisted in making what was a memorable holiday for all on board.  The yacht itself was superb, no malfunctions or breakages and she handled very well at all points of sail.  As you already
know, we are looking to go out to Croatia in April 2006 and am currently awaiting confirmation from a few people that they will be coming before I make a firm commitment with you.  Thank you for the information supplied so far. .......................Also, below is our promised feedback:"

How satisfied are you with your sailing charter?
The charter was excellent - We are already looking to book with your company again next year.
Silver Star was perfect for our mixed crew (both in age and experience). The Meltimi made for
some exciting sailing but was not as bad a wind as we were led to believe - After sailing in force
8/9 in UK waters, a steady F7 on the beam made the longer runs very easy!  The hydraulic
twin-wheel steering was a new experience but was so easy we did not use the autohelm at all.

Your skipper services:  We chartered the yacht as a bare-boat with myself as Skipper (RYA Yachtmaster Ocean).
Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter, checking in and out
Thalea kept in (almost constant) touch via Email during the lead-in  to the charter and the
on-site team in Athens were very helpful.
Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future:  We have already
commenced the initial stages of a booking for a bare-boat charter in Croatia with Exas and hope
that we continue to enjoy sailing with the company in the years to come.  We have chartered yachts
with various companies over the years and have no hesitation in recommending Exas to both
our sailing friends and anyone looking to find an efficient and friendly company to charter with.
The website is also excellent providing a wealth of useful information.  THANK YOU.

Thanks Mario and friends for sailing in Greece again with the EXAS YACHTS Family! Yacht sailed  Alpha 51. SY Jacosta
"Dear Thalea and Nikos, as you know I have been in the charter business for almost all my life as a skipper with my own boat, now that I became a customer I am not an easy one. Since I met you though, things have become easy in all aspects, from the booking procedure, charter information, checking in and out, boat quality and conditions and I stopped worrying about all that, now I enjoy my holidays more that when I was using my own boat.
Together with my crew we want to warmly thank you for the care you take of our holidays and we are looking forward to meeting you again next summer."     Mario, Barbara, Paolo, Marino, Federica, Federico, Giuliana, Luisa, Davide.

How satisfied are you with your sailing charter? Was your charter as expected? Booking Procedure?
We are 100% satisfied with the boat and all your services. Our charter was much better than expected, the boat was perfect and well equipped with a full pattern mainsail that provided some great sailing and even with a generator. We were a crew of 9 and we felt that there was room for some more of us. We also had a very good weather with some wind but never more that 5 beaufort although it was in August. We chartered the boat as bareboat and I was the skipper.
Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter, checking in and out  We had all the information we needed regarding the boat and the charter. Checking in Kos and out in Rhodes was easy and on perfect time and we want to thank your base managers in those islands for their kind service.
Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future:
This is not the first time I sail with one of your boats and you know you will always be my first choice, there is something in the way you work and look after your customers that is very rare to get from other companies, that’s probably why you call your self the Exas family.

American Friends sail in Greece with Harris on the NEW Cyclades 43.
"Thanks again for booking such a wonderful trip--we had a blast!
Thank you again for everything! I'm also attaching a picture of Hari and the Tuna"
Cecily and Mona

We were very satisfied with our Exas experience.
We really didn’t have to worry about too much.

Your skipper services: We were fortunate to have Harris as our skipper.  He had an excellent knowledge of each and every marina where we docked, and made everyone feel a part of sailing the yacht.  By the end of our sail, our skipper was really more like one of our travel companions than someone we had hired.

Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter. Exas gave us clear information about our charter and how to find the boat at the marina.  I don’t think I had a clear idea of the times it takes to sail from one particular island to another, but that probably fluctuates based on conditions and it something you will figure out soon enough anyway.

Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future: Yes.  I would definitely use Exas again for sailing in Greece.  Exas definitely had more of a personal touch and I felt that Exas gave more attention to its customers than what I observed with some other charter companies.

Yacht sailed: The new Beneteau Cyclades 43 ( 3 cabins and 3 baths)

Thanks John, Mona and Cecily. We know you had a great time with Harri and catching that tuna was a bonus!
Glad we met up in Athens .Thalea and Nikos

Thanks for the great pictures...WOW look at Mykonos and the tuna Harri caught!

Jason, Janet and their daughter Riley enjoyed a week of fun sailing with Pandelis as
their skipper and sailing instructor. (We think Pandelis had as much fun as they did!).
Thanks Jason and Janet for your letter. We are very happy you enjoyed a relaxing holiday in
Greece. We also greatly look forward to seeing your family
in Athens again.....
(yacht was Sun Odyssey 37.1) Thalea
"Thalea,
I wanted to take some time to let you know how much we loved our trip. I feel the survey wasn't
clear. It was amazing that you were able to put together such a great trip on only a weeks notice.
The sail boat was excellent. The skipper was even better. I can imagine that if you get a skipper
who isn't skilled or willing to let the people try their hand at sailing it could make for a horrible trip.
That was not our case. Our skipper was very skilled very help full and enthusiastic about us
testing our new abilities. He charted a wonderful course of beautiful islands and excellent swimming.

You were great to work with. You walked us through the check in process very well. I think the
thing that amazed us the most, besides you pulling this all off on such short notice, was the fact that
you were at the dock when we returned to Athens before we even set anchor. Check out was great
and slow which is what you need after being out in the beautiful ocean for a week. Since we aren't
from Greece and don't have a travel agent familiar with Greece the help you provided
us in getting a hotel close to the marina was great. The hotel was excellent and we couldn't have
done better ourselves. We have every intention of sailing with you again and for us it can't be soon
enough. We had such a great experience with you that we have also been telling all
our friends and work associates about the excellent job you do and the wonderful experience it is.
Sincere Thanks               Janet and Jason Coyle

Graham Group:   SY Maus Kati             Belize 43         June 26-July 10 2005 Lefkas
Bill, Brenda and dear friends of the Sail Flat Crew of 2005- as usual your comments and feedback on
your sailing experience in Greece is top notch, full of useful information and to the point for
improvements which we appreciate and more!  We missed meeting your group this year around ......so it  is a date for next year for certain! (Have to do the dinner thing together again, that was fun last year!) I am hoping visitors to our site and this page will benefit from your comments when sailing the Ionian Islands of Greece. Nikos and I wish you, your friends and family a great summer and stay well!

Thalea and Nikos

1. How satisfied are you with your sailing charter? Was your charter as expected? Booking Procedure?
"The usual high standard from the EXAS FAMILY. Kiracoulis has slightly lower standards, but their performance was acceptable. The absence of a spinnaker, as requested, was disappointing
as was the lack of notice or interest from Kiracoulis. “they have not sent one from Athens” was hardly an explanation."
2. Your skipper services. "The skipper on Maus Katti was absolutely excellent and could not be faulted, he was, however, slightly over modest, otherwise he would have been perfect!!! "
3. Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter, checking in and out ."The flow of information from EXAS was, as usual, comprehensive, accurate and timely. As I have said before, it is the attention to detail which makes EXAS one of the best charter agents I have used."
4. Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future: Your comments, please be specific.
"Of course, don’t be silly Thalea, you know we think a lot of you and Nicos."
"And now onto the real meat of the survey. The Ionian and particularly the Inland Sea is a wonderful place to go sailing, the seven islands are absolutely stunning and the Sail Flat crew on Maus Katti have had a fabulous sailing holiday. Maus Katti is a well found boat and sails very well, she sails upwind much better than many cats I have sailed and the predictable winds of the Ionian allowed us to have 4 or 5 really good sails. We will, most definitely, return. Kiracoulis provide an acceptable level of service and, most surprisingly, are very good at reaching broken boats in inaccessible locations. I just can’t help feeling that, if they gave more attention to routine servicing, they would not need such a good breakdown service. The skipper had a really good 9 days but then, unfortunately, developed a funny tummy and spent 4 days not eating and spending much of his time running to the heads. This turned out to me more serious than the usual holiday tummy and on Friday of the second week a Doctor was called. The last three days taking a cocktail of antibiotics and controlling tablets brought about a successful recovery. Doctor Elias is a young American guy of Greek parentage, he is moving to Athens in August to study Urology, if you or Nicos ever come across him, buy him a drink for me!

I don’t know if I can add anymore, everyone ashore was very helpful, we had assistance from a young S. African skipper who is skippering a crewed charter cat out of Ay Euphimia of Kephalonia, the company is Sail Equinox and they have 2 skippered Fountaine Pajot Lavezzi 40’ for day, overnight or weekly charter, the other boat is based at Lefkas. We had assistance from a Flotilla Base Manager for Sailing Holidays from Scotland, who supplied a toilet seat hinge free of charge. Brenda was taken, by motorcycle, from Vathi (Meganisi) to the next village to talk to the Doctor/Pharmacist about me, by a waiter in a bar. We were not hassled by over anxious tourist touts and yet the people of Greece seem genuinely concerned that tourists should enjoy their visit. And, by the way, in 2 weeks of mostly berthing in harbours and ports, we were asked to pay for berthing in only 1. Navigational warning. The pilot book shows that, in Paros on Kephalonia, the ferry drops anchors across the harbour. Most ferries do not drop anchors, but often take a line to the end of the sea wall. However, the last ferry in 9.00 p.m. stays in Paros overnight he takes lines to the end of the sea wall and to a large can buoy on the other side of the harbour. This effectively blocks the harbour to sailing vessels. The ferry departs at 6.00 a.m.

Thalea & Nicos, thank you again for all your help, we do want to start looking for next year, though I haven’t even spoken to the crew since we got home. Muas Katti would probably do if I have the same crew as this year. If I can find 1 or 2 more I would be interested in the Bahia you mentioned in your first reply back in September 2004. But we have seen Ecker Yachting, based in Lefkas and they have some Priveledge Cats including a 465 which is a beast! Electric everything, Freezer, Microwave, Dishwasher, whatever. Ecker is an Austrian company and I don’t know if you have come across them or could deal with them. Their website is
www.eckeryachting.com  and they have an English language version. We would probably look at the same sort of dates, or perhaps a week or two earlier (it got
very hot towards the end of the holiday) so anytime in June ’06. See what you can find and, keep in touch.
Regards     Bill & the Sail Flat Crew.

The Moore Group sail on the San Giorgio with Spiro and Lorella as crew!
Thanks for everyone for the constructive and positive feedback. We view all surveys with interest and as a tool to improve our services....Thalea and Nikos
How satisfied are you with your sailing charter?
Thalea:  I wanted to take time to reflect on our trip and be very constructive in my evaluation.
We had a great time and have all remained friends after being in very close quarters for a week.
As for recommending this boat for five couples and a crew of two, please think this over very carefully.  It was not really fair to us or Lorella and Spiro.  It was too crowded.  Three of the cabins were fine but the front berth and the cabin who shared the walk way to the front cabin were very inconvenienced.  If this had not been done, my opinion of the trip would have been different. I loved the islands, but was very disappointed that we did not have enough wind that week, which I know that you could not control.  The weather was great.  Thank goodness for that.

Your skipper services:
We were one of the two couples that had sailed before and I feel that Spiro was a very qualified skipper but was on the lazy side for whatever reason.  We had to request many things on the boat that should have been anticipated.  E.g. bimini put up, low battery for three days and of course the toilets that you said he should have been able to fix.  We watched other captains on neighboring boats cleaning and making sure their guests were comfortable.  Spiro would leave the boat as soon as we were docked and leave this to Lorella, who we can not say enough good about.  She was delightful, helpful and her food was delicious.  His lack of cooperation on the selection of itinerary cost us two very long motoring days.

Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter.
The information for checking in and finding the marina was great.  You did a wonderful job.  Nikos was very kind in finding our friends luggage that had been lost for two days and getting it on the boat.  But we were not given any instructions on the workings of the boat.  If it had not been for Don and I, our inexperienced crew would have been lost.  They had very little knowledge of how a sailboat worked.  In our other chartering experience, we were given instruction before we left the dock.
Thalea, thank you for being there for our check out.  We all felt that if you had been there for check in, things would have been different.  The lack of a real English speaking person was somewhat a problem.

Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future:

Yes, I might sail with you again but I would be very careful with boat and captain selections.  I would be much more comfortable with a newer boat.  Chartering takes its toll on boats and careful maintenance is crucial.  Also, please be careful with linen requests. We did not have a blanket for each bunk.  If it had been cold, some of us would have been very uncomfortable.  Extra pillows were not delivered as requested either.  Please take these points as constructive evaluation.  We did have a great adventure and experienced the Greek islands like we could not have if we had been on a cruise ship.  Thank you very much for the time you took with us in arranging the trip.   D. Nix

Honeymoon in GREECE for the Clarks with Pericles as their skipper. Yacht sailed - 3 cabin Bavaria 42.
Our entire Exas Family wishes you a wonderful life with the memories of your honeymoon in Greece to last a lifetime.
We enjoyed meeting you both and welcome you back to Greece again! Thalea, Nikos and Pericles.

How satisfied are you with your sailing charter? Was your charter as expected?
"Overall we were completely satisfied with our charter and it met and even exceeded our expectations. The process could not have been smoother and the prompt attention to our questions did not go unnoticed".
Your skipper services.
"There isn't enough superlatives to describe Pericles. He is a professional first and foremost, but also your friend. Not easy to do but it does work."
Was enough information provided to you regarding your charter, checking in and out "Yes for the most part. I would have liked a list of recommended groceries prior to our arrival. Also, remind your charterers that ATM's have daily limits."
Given a choice, would you consider sailing with us in the future: "Absolutely. We have already recommended you to family and friends and we look forward to returning and exploring more of the islands. Hopefully with our new friend Pericles.   Obviously certain islands are more attractive and enjoyable than others.  We can not thank you and Pericles enough. It was a wonderful honeymoon and it was made possible through your efforts and expertise.
L.and S. Clark.
