Well......how can we not start off our season without Alan and his group. Yiasou
Alan...and friends!
Welcome to Mike who joined Alan this year as a second
yacht.......Yiasou Mike! We look forward to more years ahead and another meet up in
Athens in the near future.
Alan chartered the
Oceanis 54
and Mike the
Cyclades 50.5 sailing out of Bodrum, Turkey. Below are their photos and
comments- thanks guys!

Comments from Alan- Oceanis 54- SY Nikita
The charter went very well (as normal)
and apart from a couple of minor problems, was enjoyed by all (including a few
‘first time’ sailors. The yacht was in excellent condition and sailed
beautifully. The ‘problems’ were: Day 1 (takeover) – we had a jammed mainsail
but Esra and her team managed to sort this out and we had no further problem
with it.
The anchor windlass stopped working towards the end of the week and we
had to haul the anchor by hand! No real problems as we were using marinas for
the last two days. Esra’s team checked it out when we arrived back and advised
that there was an intermittent problem with the power supply to the windlass
(hope it is now sorted).
I think Turkey was not quite ready for us all that
early in the season as it was difficult (but not impossible) to obtain supplies
or find a restaurant which was fully open – The
Turkish people were very
friendly and did their best to help us by serving what they had available and,
in one case, providing ad-hoc transport to/from the nearest village!
All in all we had a great time (as well as those on Tequila who shared the week
with us) and I will definitely be going back (with Exas) for more.
With that in
mind Thalea, I will be asking you for your best deals for September 2011 when I
next write to you.
In summary, the service provided by Exas (yacht charter, Taxis, etc.) and the
assistance of the local team (Esra & co), made it yet another wonderful trip
which I will remember
for years to come – Thank you all!

Yachts: SY TEQUILA and NIKITA
Comments from Mike- Cyclades 50.5 SY Tequila
The whole yacht charter was really easy thanks to Exas doing all the handwork
i.e.
arranging for the boat spec that we wanted, the provisioning, the taxis to and
from the
airport and the transit log. All went well except that on arrival the
taxis were waiting for us at the international terminal whilst we arrived at the
domestic terminal. A quick
call to Esra at the marina and the taxis came round
and picked us up. Tequila was clean and well prepared although no sheets were on
board but these were quickly
provided by Esra on request. Our provisions that we
had pre-ordered were on Nikita all as agreed. Check in was brief but all the
essentials were covered.
Tequila performed well throughout our charter. The only problem we had was
with the outboard as no "kill cord" was provided (missed at check in) and when
we eventually
got it going it proved unreliable. Again a quick call to Esra and
we picked up a spare engine from our next port of call (Degirman Buku).
Overall the charter was near on perfect. Thanks Thalea for all your hard work
which has given all 9 of us on Tequila a great holiday to remember

and we can't say enough nice things about Akis, our skipper.
 His knowledge both of the islands and the ancient and current history and
politics of Greece added greatly to our adventure. I am not the picture taker

Thanks for your help in making the arrangements. Also, Arena Car Rental
was
fantastic. They were very accommodating and we enjoyed
being able to
travel into the mountains after the boat trip to visit my mother's

The people is kind and the place is wonderful!
Was our charter as expected? Yes! Now we are planning to return to do
the Cyclades Island!
Booking procedure: Very simple and
effective. You got our confidence thru these booking process and we are glad to
had the contract with Exas
Skipper - Giannis was special! Very interesting person and very dedicated
skipper. Everybody felt safe on his hands!
When we get back, Giannis must be again with us! We just hope to get more wind

Additional information: Should be more
useful if we knew that at the islands is so easy to get provisions like food,
water and drinks. This could
help us to buy less things from the beginning and to reduce the expenses.
YES, we consider to sail with you in the future! I also suggest you to open a
sort of 'miledge control' to give special discounts to your customers
that back to Exas in Greece, Caribbean, Croatia, etc.... These are our plans!

"All went well. Hotel booking on arrival in Trogir was messed up. However the
hotel staff made alternate arrangements for the two days
for all 9 crew. Went very well and the hotel staff did a good job.
As you are aware we did opt for an older boat. Aussies can be tight with money.
Very happy with the Bavaria 44, even though a few things were not
working. Our group were practical and could fix most things themselves.
Happy with the base manager at Trogir. Bob was very helpful.
Croatia is a lovely place to sail. Could not fault, except for the poor quality
of the wine. Nevertheless we endeavored to try them all.
Even had a few good days of sailing.
The information you "Exas" sent was more than adequate.
The crew on this trip and those sailing previously are all happy with Exas and
are willing to recommend the firm."
