Thank you Alain and friends! Thalea

"Hi Thalea
Yes, this week is over… It was cold and windy, but we had the extraordinary pleasure to be (quite always) alone – on the sea, in the harbors, at anchor, even walking in the islands… Receiving (and understanding!) the weather forecasts with the VHF was definitely impossible: anglo-greek accent, speed of the speaker, VHF noise… I expected to have a Navtex, which was finally missing (?). Opportunely, I-phones were there… The Weatheronline.com forecasts were constantly pessimistic by 1 Bf, (which is safe). Anyhow, you don’t need more info that the overall wind speed/direction (and gale warnings…) in these islands, as the geography alters significantly strength and direction (as everywhere).

We had an excellent contact with Georgios from the office in Paros. Cool and professional. The boat was well maintained – to the exception of the sails (completely burnt out by the sun). With the strong gusts we met, the genoa disjointed on the last day, just in front of Paros (the hood did the same on the second day). Fortunately we didn’t suffer from the sun… The really bad surprise came from the front water tank, which leaked in such a way that (with the help of pitch and roll) the mattress was completely flooded. As we were only four, we left the front for the 2nd aft cabin and dried our clothes…

I wonder how the traffic is in summer and I can envisage the struggle to anchor or to dock in the narrow places we stopped. We were never asked to pay for a fee in any harbor –divine surprise compared to the common uses of August … People were amiable and affable, food was excellent even if most of the shops were closed.

I warmly recommend going there in May, alone on the sea and surrounded by flowers ashore."

Mike and crew, ever so faithfully once again are with us for their yearly charter sailing this time in Croatia.....uh...until September; when friends will meet up in Italy for charter Number 2...  Thanks for your feedback and sharing your wonderful photos aboard the Bavaria 46 Cruiser - SY Traminac.  We value you as clients and friends! Thalea/ Exas Yachts

Another great holiday courtesy of Exas with everything going to plan.  The taxi was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived and was on time to take us back to the airport at the end of the charter.  The base staff were really friendly and helpful and the pre-arranged provisions from JAM YachtSupply turned up 5 minutes after we did.  Traminac was still being cleaned when we arrived so we were forced to go and have a beer, hard life this sailing!  The yacht was well equipped apart from having no kettle and had no pilot guide for the area we were cruising, items we missed at check-in.  There were 2 minor faults with Traminac, one being with the cooker which would not stay lit on one side (unless the knob was constantly held in) and the other being the outhaul jammer which would not lock easily under load, but once we got used to these quirks they did not cause us too much trouble.  We got to all our passage plan ports of call (Vis town, Vela Luka, Korcula town, Hvar town, Zlatni Rat beach, Milna and Split) in the week, although due to lack of wind spent too much time motoring, but c’est la vie.  Thanks Thalea for all your hard work, looking forward now to our next trip with Exas, Sicily in September!

Tom and Sue sail 10 days one way from Athens to Santorini on the SY Argo. - Hanse 40.

Wow...your photos are fantastic!  http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1769007070121.2090095.138755885
Looking at the photos is like being with you on the trip; very professional. It was Walter's and my pleasure organizing
your trip and are so pleased for your experience sailing in Greece. Come visit us again.....!!  Thalea / Exas Yachts

"Sue and I had a great time on the Argo in Greece. We did have some minor challenges dealing with constantly changing
conditions,
but that's called sailing. If we had wanted everything to go as scheduled and planned we would have booked a cruise ship.
I hope I never get so old that that is what I want to do. Unfortunately when phoning  in a debrief, Sue said I sounded
like a cruise ship passenger complaining about the linen service, while my intention was to help get the boat ready for
the next charter. Over all I could not imagine a better boat, a better place to sail it, or better conditions to sail with the
exception of a few hours out of Alimos when the winds picked up to twice the already marginal predicted  conditions.
[ The Argo can make 6.5 knots with the main zipped up and the jib reefed to the size of a beach towel, plus
of course the canopy which we unfortunately neglected to reef.] I found the canopy a bother from the get-go as it blocked the
view of the sails and a torn seam was a good excuse to get it out of the way. Walter forgive me for not  believing you
when you said the end anchor chain safety would hold. It did under the most extreme conditions. "  The Gerharts

Thank you for sailing with us; it was fun planning your holiday! Thalea/ Exas Yachts

"We were very satisfied with the charter. The boat was in good condition and any problem was promptly solved by the skipper.
All the booking process, as well as the transfers and rentals went fine. The skipper was very efficient and interacted well with our group.
Even the weather was great. For next time, we would like to receive more information in order to have more grounds to decide the
itinerary". N. Glatt

The Taylor family sail in Greece on the Lagoon 440 with Giannis- nice photo!

Friends from the USA sail on the Lagoon 440 with Gianni and Matina as their crew.  Thanks for sailing in Greece with Exas Yachts!

"Hi Thalea! What a trip! It was just amazing and of course the boat and our adventures with Giannis and Matina were the best part.
I'll be happy to post comments and some pics on the website. We certainly have both! Give me a few days to get settled back in
as we just returned home last night, late. I'd like to send Jim and Betty what I plan to post to see if they want to add anything.
Thanks so much!

Santorini was beautiful and we enjoyed the Santos Winery and the old fishing taverns at the bottom of the big hill at the old port.
We visited the Acropolis and Delphi while in Athens. And we were caught in the middle of a tear gas incident involving the protestors
and the police in Athens while at a cafe for dinner. It was wild! We saw history being made. We do wish your country the
best in the future. Things are rough there right now!

P.S. I just can't tell you how much we enjoyed Giannis and Matina. They are wonderful and we all had a great time! Debbie"

The Kehr Family visit Greece and sail from Paros on the Bavaria 51 Cruiser with Walter and Alexandra as their crew.
The Exas Family team is so thrilled to have played a role in your dream- your memories will keep you smiling- thank you!!!
Your comments have renewed our spirit!

"Dear Thalea,
Life is certainly hectic when you are not on vacation.  My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
Here are my comments:

After decades of cruising, racing, and chartering (both bare boat and crewed) our cruise through the Cyclades Islands was even greater
than what we had expected after years of dreaming.  As a young man I spent several weeks in the Greek Islands and always
remembered the magic that was present.  For our 35th wedding anniversary my wife and I had spent several years planning to
return to the islands.  Little did we think that our cruise would ever exceed our high expectations.  From the moment we met Thalea
we knew that she "got it" when we talked about gourmet cooking and uninhabited beaches.  Her choice of Walter and Aleca for
crew was better than perfect.  Everything went extremely well which is an absolute rarity these days.  From the land based
travel agent that Thalea recommended to our item by item inventory each of the smallest details was handled flawlessly.
Every minute of the trip was excellent and will be remembered forever.
For such an involved plan the fact that it executed without a hitch is more than a miracle.  It was a "Thalea".
Thank you for making dreams come true.  Best - R. Kehr

Here we go again with the "Friends that Sail Together Team"
Al and Mike's group this time sailed 2x Bavaria 50 Cruisers in the Aeolian Islands of Italy.  !!!

Al, your group has been sailing with us since 2005 can you believe it!  Your comments and photos are a
bi yearly ritual with us and we look forward to this very much. So glad to hear Italy went well even with
little wind; it sounds wonderful. Thanks to all in your groups.

"Thalea......

We had a great time sailing (well motoring mostly) around the Aeolian Islands.  After a delayed arrival, we were escorted to our
yachts by the friendly base staff then promptly went ashore for a crew meal (all 20 of us) at a local Tratoria - The Tratoria
staff even collected and returned us to the marina at no extra cost!.

The food/wine/beer we had pre-ordered was already on board and all that was left to do on the first night was to enjoy a
nightcap in the heat and go to bed.  Next morning the check-out went well with just one minor problem (leaking toilet)
which was quickly sorted by the base staff.

What followed was days of blue skies, hot sun and a very occasional breeze.  We managed to see all of the Aeolian Islands
and were very impressed with the smoking craters and lava flows.  Both my Son and My Daughter celebrated their birthdays
during the week (Party Time).  Warm water and swimming in secluded anchorages made it perfect.

Santa Marina on Salina was a shock - very expensive!  We originally moored stern too in the commercial harbour
but were asked to move.  Had we known the cost, we would have chosen the anchorage instead!

All in all, a great time was had again by everyone - thanks Exas and thanks Kiriacoulis yachts.
The next venture will be the British Virgin Islands in May 2012 (and possibly the Dodecanese in 2013).

Al Mellor

Wibrew group sail the Cyclades/Saronic on the 3 cabin / 2 bath Hanse 400Thank you for sailing with us in Greece!

"Hello Thalea,
Thanks for the nice follow up email. Yes, we did indeed enjoy the yacht - it had great performance.

We did have some strong winds on our last day, but it was more that we had 60 miles or so to do to get back to Athens! We were exhausted when we arrived!

Walter was great. He was very kind and knowledgeable.
We'll get some comments on the website with some photos.
Thanks Thalea, we had a great charter and your company did a great job.
Roger"
