The history of Sicily is rich and varied It consists mostly of successive waves of invaders (the Greeks that founded Syracuse in 734 BC, the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Arabs, the Normans and the Spaniards) occupying the island and leaving cultural influences which have blended in often fascinating ways, such as the unique Arabic-Norman architecture of the Middle Ages.  Sicily is well known for its unique natural beauty, Etna's volcano and its very imposing coasts, islands and islets. Starting your cruise from our base in Palermo, a city of numerous monuments, you can sail East to Cefalu, a bustling tourist resort built about the original picturesque fishing village. Within 35 miles from the coast lies the Archipelago of the Aeolian Islands. There are 7 islands that are peaks of volcanoes and two remain active: Stromboli and Gran Cratere on Vulcano. Although there are no really secure harbours, there are sufficient harbours and anchorages sheltered from the prevailing summer winds to make it well worthwhile cruising around this magnificent archipelago.  The normal summer winds are from the NW occasionally going around the W. There may also be winds from the NE. Choosing to sail North of Palermo at 36 miles there is Ustica island also an island of volcanic origin. Our second base in Sicily is located in Marsala, a picturesque town, founded by the Carthaginians , well known from the popular wine. Marsala it's a pleasant relaxed place from where you can sail North West for visiting in a range of 25 miles the Egadi Islands that are three principal islands, Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo, or sailling South for visiting Pantelleria, an island of volcanic origin, and the barren rocky island of Lampedusa that has recently become popular for the good underwater fishing around the coast.  Marsala is also ideal as a starting point to Malta (120 miles) and of course to Tunisia. Sant' di Militelli is a pleasant town in the province of Messina between the hills and sea, in the middle between Palermo and Messina exactly in front of the Aeolian Islands. Easily accessible from both international airports of Palermo (160 km) and Catania (200 km). A new superhighway and continuous railway system makes this an ideal point for embarkation on sailing the Aeolian Islands as well as other interesting itineraries. Sample Itinerary: Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Panarea, salina, Stomboli and Vulcano are all about 3 hours sailing time or 25 NM distance making this ideal for a week charter.

     Port MARSALA-  Marsala is a seaport city located in the Province of Trapani on the island of Sicily in Italy. The low coast on which it is situated is the westernmost point of the island

For exploring the magnificent west coast of Italy and world known for its beauty island of Corsica, we have chosen two excellent locations, one is the new built Etrusca Marina in Scarlino, south of Piombino in the coast side and the other is the island of Elba. Island of Elba is the largest, richest and most beautiful island of the Archipelago Toscano. Its coast is much indented and there are numerous attractive harbours and anchorages. The slopes are extensively terraced and the island is always green even in the middle of summer. It is a green and colorful spot that enchanted the exiled Napoleon.
You can sail to the western Italian mainland coast, and to the Tuscan archipelago consisting of Gorgona, Capraia, Pianosa, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri. It is a popular cruising ground for yachts, however you may end up staying longer than you planned, seduced by the charm of these islands. You may also explore the Ligurian coast, Corsica and Sardinia.

Agropoli, pearl of Cilento, land of myth and nature. The geographic position of Agropoli is  between Capo Campanella (Sorrento) and Capo Palinuro. It is an ideal starting point for sailing towards the various landing places and islands strewn in the Gulf of Napoli and along the Costiera Cilentana which are famous for its unpolluted natural beauties and its important archaeological and historical vestiges.
Sailing along these coasts means to follow the footsteps of Ulisse, the Homeric hero, who resisted the song of Siren Leucosia, who was transformed, then, into a rock (Punta Licosa) and of Enea, in return from burning Troy, who lost here his loyal helmsman Palinuro.

Lamezia Terme. A favorable position for a trip to the Lipari-islands.
